Today we’re gonna give Harrison Ford a new skin surface and render Groot with a ton of lights.
This is a more in depth review of the new V-Ray 3.5 from Chaos Group. We’re taking another look at the Apaptive Light Algorithm, and see what happens in a scene, when we use a ton of light sources. I’m not lying when I say, that I just rendered 11 times faster with V-Ray 3.5.
Then we’re gonna review a few new shaders: the alSurface shader and the new MDL shader language from nVidia. The new alSurface shader is based on Anders Langlands’ alShader, a physically plausible, energy-conserving, general-purpose surface shader, that’ll allow for some easy to use SSS (sub surface scattering).
